Dexon Joins Hands to Protect Local Forest

Rayong, Thailand—March 21—Dexon Technology cleared a 1km firebreak to protect the Huai Mahat Forest.

As part of our ongoing commitment to environmental conservation, Dexon completed a 1-kilometer fire break at Huai Mahat, a forest under restoration after years of agricultural use and a devastating fire.

🔸The Importance of Fire Breaks

Fire breaks are essential in preserving delicate ecosystems. These 4-meter-wide clearings, which can be ditches or paths cleared of brush, act as barriers to prevent fires from spreading.

Most forest fires burn slowly along the forest floor. A well-placed fire break can stop a fire in its tracks, sparing vast sections of forest from destruction. They also serve as strategic control points for firefighters, making it easier to contain and manage fires.

🔸 A Forest Reborn

Huai Mahat was used for farming as recently as 2012, but in the years since, Agricultural Community Enterprise of Hom Mahat have reclaimed the land and worked to restore it to its natural state.

The results have been remarkable. The forest has transformed from a flat, lifeless expanse to a thriving habitat with massive trees towering overhead. The return of rare species, like the leopard cat, pangolin, and large flying fox, are a sign of the environment’s robustness.

Last year, however, a fire swept through the forest while the caretaker was away—undoing some of the progress made. Since then, safeguarding this fragile ecosystem has become more urgent than ever.

🔸 Dexon’s Role

Dexon joined the conservation effort in 2023, planting 500 trees and constructing fire prevention ditches. This year’s 1km fire break builds on those efforts, creating a stronger line of defense to protect the recovering forest.

🔸 More Than Pipelines

Our primary mission at Dexon is to ensure that the contents of pipelines stay where they should be, preventing environmental disasters before they happen. Our responsibility to the planet does not stop there.

Through hands-on, local conservation projects like the one at Huai Mahat, we’re proud to do our part preserving nature for future generations.
